2010 Malibu e37 used pcm sps failed

1
I tried to program a used pcm on a 2010 Malibu 3.5 with e37 pcm. I used sps but it came up with an error that the calibration was already in the module. Flashing the same calibration was not allowed. And no option to continue. I thought this was only for vehicles 2016 and up. Did GM change something is sps? I was able to do the theft learn but the pcm has the donor car vin. Any way around this?

usually at the beggining of session, you select replace and program, not just program. than it let you flash even if it is same calibration and write VIN at the same time... hope I'm right!! Wink

I thought that was the mistake I made but I immediately re tried it making sure to select replace and it kept giving me the error.

ouch... VIN write function in tech2 maybe? don't remember seeing that on those...
worst case, do you have programmer, like kess-ktag or HP tuner for example? maybe you can change part number manually so TIS2WEB thinks it needs an update?
or maybe it can be done with GM DPS (engineer software)?
just throwing out ideas...

Thank you. I appreciate it. I tried HP tuners and it did not write the vin even after doing a “write full”. I don’t believe the tech2win has the ability to write the vin but I’ll check that tomorrow. I have a program “Alex flasher” it’s supposed to support the e37. i have never used it before but I tried to read it and it also gave me an error, I might have been doing something wrong though.  One thing I did not try but might give a shot is programing it as an older vehicle, like a 08 using tis2000. Then giving SPS another shot since the calibration will be different now.  I just wanted to see if anyone has ran into this recently in case GM changed something.

I ran into this issue again on a 2012 impala and I just did the theft deterrent relearn and left the donor vin in the pcm. I was expecting a vin mismatch code but it didn’t throw one and fired up.
