I'm surprised that representatives of the oil industry are no longer able to lobby as much as they used to.

It may seem so, but even in normal cars there is already oil lifetime fill.

Just like combustion engines, they consume little oil if they are not replaced, but then they have a short lifespan. However, they wear out more tires and brake pads because they are heavier. EVs produce rare but serious pollution in the form of used batteries.
Until I have to, I have no use for an EV car. nevertheless, as I said, I know that there are niche applications for them

Batteries can only be repaired by replacing the cell, so you still have to do something with the damaged ones. Of course, this is better than replacing the whole thing, but it still generates waste that is difficult to recycle. The combustion engine and oils are very easy to recycle, but batteries are not.

Here in Finland battery recycling is getting better and better but still it's difficult. If i'm correct recycling car batteries is the easiest task. Chemistry is known. Small drills etc. anything small working with lithium is battery is the bad thing. Very difficult to recycle because mostly chemistry is unknown. Knowing chemistry allows to select correct procedures for recycling.
