Opel Corsa D (2008) - no climate controls on display

1
Hey guys!

Ok.. so.. this is probably one of the more interesting things I've seen.

Randomly while driving my climate controls disappear (nothing on display and also buttons do nothing - their backlights turn off). Can't find any connection why and how (picture attached - not mine, but he had same problem - fues in his case.. lucky guy..). Its an automatic climate system (would probably be better with a manual one xD)

- Already tried replacing "buttons" for climate control from another car, but no luck.
- Checked all the fueses and they are all good (although I think if fuse was a problem it would never work)
- Checked the 12V on the back of the climate control connector and also when the buttons don't work there are 12V
- Replaced old blower motor with new one with also a new motor resistor (heard they like to go bad)

Tried to scan with faks - chinese opcom and it doesn't find any error code but when there are no commands on display I can't even connect to ECC (electronic climate control) module..

Anyone seen something like this before?
Thanks for any help, it's driving me nuts :/

Okayyy.. so, more interesting finds
Today I tested a few fuses, that were labeled "climate control" or anything close to that on the diagrams on the internet.
And I found out, that if I remove fuse number 30 and put it back in, the climate controls come back and they work, looks like the fuse 30 resets something that is not working?
Anyone knows what fuse 30 is used for? Where does it lead? Looks like the thing that it leads to its the problem?

Also checked when the climate controls are not working this fuse still has 12V and tried like 5 different fuses but got the same result every time (after a random time the climate controls stop working and when I take out the fuse and put it back they come back up).

Again, thanks for any help!

That fuse (F30 of 7.5A), is only for the AC or ECC control panel.
To be able to communicate with the ECC control panel, you need +12V on its pin 15, GND on pin 9 and CAN L and H on pins 13 and 14.
And of course, it (the panel) should be switched on. Starting is done on the CAN bus.
Probably a "noise" produced on these pins can generate your problem.
I would make sure that I have GND and power without imperfect contacts.
Also, the CAN bus reaches the Display pins (17 and 18), which in the case of the Corsa D plays a kind of Gateway role. These pins go through an intermediate plug and there may be oxidized pins.
Not to be neglected is the aspect if the Radio and the Display are original from the car and have the VIN and PIN of the car, as well as the ECC panel.

Thank you very much!

I'm going to test 12V and GND on those two pins and check for their consistencies.
Is there a way to check pins 9, 13 and 14 (also 17 and 18)? Should they have a specific voltage?
Do you maybe know where this intermediate plug (for pins 17 and 18) is located, so I can check it..
Amm.. as I know Radio and Display are probably original, ECC panel is not, but I will switch it with the original one since its not the problem in the panel.

- 9 is GND, so must messure 0 Ohm to any ground.
- 13 and 14 from ECC control panel, must have continuity to 17 and 18 from Display. In this way you check the intermediate plug too. I think this plug must be under the bonnet unlocker.

Mannn you are a legend Smile
I think I fixed it! Started to removing the display unit and already when I was prying the trim around it the climate controls were going on and off and back on..
So when I removed the display I unpluged and pluged it back again and now seems to work! Probably was a loose plug on the diplay... will keep an eye on it, but for now looks pretty good Big Grin

Thanks again! +rep!

Typical Corsa D fault, easy solution:

Resolder the LCD screen connector, it receives communication from the climate control.
