Reducing coolant temp, BMW N42 1037351578 0261209005

1
Hello guys,

looking for the coolant maps KFETRT KFETRD as the engine runs quite hot at 106-107°C. Anyone know where to find these maps? First one should be 8x8 and second 6x6.

Kind regards
Daniel

If you think it's higher than expected, best to check hardware and for air locks.

Otherwise, hotter the better so long as within hardware limits...

Well, thats not my question.

This section of the forum is about automotive tuning, not automotive repair. If the temps are set high and i wanny lower it, it´s all about the ecu config.

Is that you Daniel F?
Thought you'd of solved this one, but then again all your work was for 6cyls!
They do run 108°c the 318i I think, I changed a stat few months ago on a compact and it was very hot at the top end and stone cold bottom end. So yes you do need to find those maps to lower coolant temps.
I'll look through my bmw damos'

Ps. Your wiki was very helpful for when I've been turbocharging many ms43
IF i helped or led you the solution, give me a Thanks & REP or a thumbs up Tup

Thanks for having a look Smile I found them in ME9.2 for N62, but they don´t translate to N42. The engine is mounted to an auto gearbox which oil is cooled by the coolant water, which i don´t like to be set at 107°C. I´m not after the last tenth of efficiency, i just want it to run cooler.

Ah so the BMW engineers got it wrong

Was just making the suggestion to check for underlying issues before adjusting the calibration to mask a problem...

BMW engineers never thought about charging that engine, but i do.

It's a fair point
But it's a coolant temperature setpoint based around hardware limits. That limit hasn't changed despite you adding a turbo/supercharger...
Of course the increased power will result in increased heat rejection to the cooling circuit, but that's a separate matter.

What is the actual issue you have?

What is the peak oil temp under extended full load?...this is more critical.
