W164 Distronic+ retrofit clarification - Auslaws - 09-14-2023

Greetings everyone,

I am trying to retrofit Distronic+ to a 2007 Mercedes ML320 CDI, VIN WDC1641222A227744.

As far as I understand it is not as simple of a process as if I only intended to retrofit Distronic. The radar unit is different, as is the ABS pump, since this option was only available in the last production years of the W164.

As far as the necessary parts needed to preform this upgrade I believe a new front radar unit is needed, as well as a "radar transparent" grill emblem, new ABS pump, new column switch with the Distronic lever and a new wire harness to connect the radar to the relevant modules. Is there any other hardware relevant for this upgrade?

I have read there is a harness you can buy pre-assembled, but I can not find a part number. I have consulted the part numbers for the pins and plugs which are part of the harness, on EPC, but I have yet to find the harness itself. Can someone be of assistance?

On top of the hardware changes I realize there will also be module programming involved. There is a guide out there, but I have not been able to consult it, not sure if it is relevant to
Distronic+ or just Distronic.

The car is stock with the exception of a Memory Package and Multicontour Package installed during the last year.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

From the EPC I got some parts numbers.

Control unit part number A2129004603 - quantity 1

Bracket part number A1645451047 - quantity 1

Hexagon nut part number N910112006001 - quantity 4

8 pin socket part number A2105404581 - quantity 1

Contact socket part number A0085456326 - quantity 4 (not mention on the EPC, but the amount was deducted from looking at the WIS wiring diagram)

Electrical line part number A0085456326 - quantity 2 (not mention on the EPC, but the amount was deducted from looking at the WIS wiring diagram)

Electrical line part number A0005402305 - quantity 2 (not mention on the EPC, but the amount was deducted from looking at the WIS wiring diagram)

Blind plug part number A0005461469 - quantity 2 (not mention on the EPC, but the amount was deducted from looking at the WIS wiring diagram)

Blind plug part number A0005458780 - quantity 2 (not mention on the EPC, but the amount was deducted from looking at the WIS wiring diagram)

Seal part number A0005456980 - quantity 4 (deducted by the existing number of unused pins on the control unit connector)

Also from WIS, Doc. no. pe30.30-p-2101-97maa, a 0,75mm black and blue wire goes from pin number 1 on the Distronic unit to pin number 6 on the MR4 connector on the engine compartment fuse box. A 0,75mm brown wire goes from pin number 6 on the Distronic unit to ground point W2. On the right front lamp unit. A 0,5mm violet and white wire goes from pin 4 on the Distronic unit to the Dynamic Can bus high connector sleeve. A 0,5mm violet wire goes from pin number 5 on the Distronic unit to the Dynamic Can bus low connector sleeve.

Nothing else for now.
