Hi everyone,
If you own a Mercedes S-Class (W221) imported from the Japanese market, you probably know the pain of the central analog clock constantly showing the wrong time (forcing the Japan time zone) with no option to change it in the Comand menu.

I found a simple and 100% working solution to bypass this. The whole process takes about 15 minutes.

Tools needed:

Laptop with Vediamo and proper multiplexer (SD Connect / C4 / Openport etc.)

Torx screwdriver set

A little bit of patience 😉

Step 1: Disconnecting the Japan GPS Signal (Comand Removal)

The trick is to cut off the Japanese satellite time sync so the instrument cluster allows manual time overrides.

Remove the lower plastic trim under the Comand unit.

Unscrew the 2 Torx screws located beneath it.

Slide away the upper trim caps on the dashboard and unscrew the next 2 hidden Torx screws.

Remove the remaining trim piece blocking the head unit.

Unscrew the 4 main screws securing the Comand unit and gently pull the radio out.

Look at the back of the Comand, locate the cable with the blue connector (GPS Antenna Fakra), and unplug it.

Put everything back together in reverse order.

Step 2: Setting the Time via Vediamo

Now that the Comand is blind to the Japanese GPS time, we can manually force our local time into the IC (Instrument Cluster).

Open Vediamo and load the KI221.cbf file.

Establish a connection with the ECU.

On the left side of the screen, navigate through the system tree and look for Adjustments.

Under the Adjustments tree, look for the German entries for date and time: Datum and Uhrzeit (Zeit).

Manually enter your current local Hour, Minutes, and Seconds, then click OK / Execute.

The analog clock on the dashboard will immediately spin and synchronize perfectly with the time you just entered!

Note / Minor drawback: Since the automatic GPS sync is now disconnected, you will need to repeat Step 2 (Vediamo coding only) if you disconnect the car battery or when Time changes (summer/winter time).

PIWIS loads ok, albeit slowly. The VAS works and is connected by USB. But it doesnt connect to the car.
