GM Tech2 RS232 DB9 Connector

1
Hi, i lost my RS232 DB9 Connector for my Tech2 and bought a new one, but the new one don´t work.

Is there maybe a difference in the pin allocation?

Can anyone send me the right allocation?

I used a RS232 DB9 and cut it off an I made the connections shown as in the picture together ! and all worked fine !

Unless I'm doing something wrong, the provided diagram is not working for me. I double check my connection many time with a DMM.

What works for me is

DB9========> RJ45
1==========> 2
2==========> 4
3==========> 5
4==========> 8
5==========> 7
6==========> 1
7==========> 3
8==========> 6
9==========> Not used

My problem is Tech2 would connect but intermittent. Anyone experience this? I have a no error messages when Tech2 post. I made sure that the com port on the computer and Tech2 matches with a baud rate of 19200. I also try turn on Tech2 first before running TIS2000 and vice versa. I have a Tech2 clone that a purchased a few weeks back and still trying to get the darn thing to communicate with the computer so I can add a PDM module.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

I've very good results with baud rate of 19200 (with a genuine Tech2, not a clone)

I use
- internet explorer 8
- windows XP SP3
- Java version 6.35

I tried other versions of Internet Explorer as well as Java, none worked on my PC

About the pinout DB9-RJ45, I had to use
- a cable with parallel wires, ISDN style, not a LAN cable, it didn't work, even with the right pinout
- the correct pinout, as I quickly understand there is a lot of misundestanding about the pin numbering of the DB9 plug, that's female and not male, but it's not evident at first sight

Please click on 'thanks' if it helps you !
