Does anyone know the pinout for the PIWIS OBD cable? I would like to build one. It is possible, right?

I have more question - how to flahs back to KTS from piwis?
Which version is for KTS and is it the same way how to do that on KTS650?

I found this:

Original Piwis software can be installed directly to a KTS650 machine.
1. BIOS needs to be flashed to Revision 113.
New/Used IDE Hard Drive, [empty 40 GB and larger]. Don't use an IDE SSD-[solid state drive] at this point yet. Only after step 3.
2. Start with Service DVD 14 [Boot DVD], which has the OS on it and boot from it.
That will partition the Hard Drive and install a base system.
3. Follow with Service DVD 18 [Boot DVD]which has OS on it and that again partitions the HD and installs an Updated base system.
4. Use DVD V32, that has V26-27-28-29-31-32 on it, that gives a complete and good installation.
This should conclude a fresh new installation, 100% functional.
5. Apply TimeBomb Fix, available on the front page of this Porsche section.


Now after this point, the Hard Drive can be worked over to any other laptop. [With the use of many tricks]- not a subject for now.
IMPORTANT: Initial installation of the Piwis software is possible in the above described Instructions ONLY to the Bosck KTS 650 units. NOT on ANY other PC or laptop. ONLY AFTER the installation has been carried out successfully on a KTS 650 unit, the Hard Drive can be converted over to other laptops or PCs. After a successful conversion it can be used with a KTS 520 and 550 hardware, but NOT on 540 or 570. Anything having wireless capability is a NO. [for Now]

I have piwis on IBM X41 and wifi to rs232 converter and it work very good .
Better than bluetooth kts 540 or 570.

where can I find Service DVD 14 and 18 ?

So is it works also with a KTS650?
Which cable do we need for piwis? Only special Bosch for Porsche?
And is it possible to go back to ESI-tronic just using another HDD or we have to do the same steps but in clockwise?

Keep in mind that there are more (3?) hardware revisions of the kts650 mainboard. Afaik you can only convert the oldest one (originally with windows me, celeron and 265mb ram or so).

it is wrong, it must be the Windows XP emb.

I want to buy KTS650 on ebay and convert it to piwis. so help me please decide which one is right for conversion? what to ask? on garageforum there was photo of correct mainboarg with big condenser or kinda like that, but nobody said is this correct or not. yesterday I get lucky to look at booting process of original PIWIS - it have VIA C3 800 processor, here's some say that kts schoul be a celeron...

I'm Glad to see, someone saved the information and instructions from
Garage Forum, I had written it, and many more.

I can send HD, or SSD to whoever want's them.
Also available custom installations with pre-set dealer location if needed.

$300 for a HD and $400 for SSD. V34 time bomb solution applied and operational for good. At this point no BIOS change is needed.


The original BIOS 1.13 is replaced by V3.1 with the arrival of PIWIS Version 32, the second BIOS seems to be a better solution since the battery maintenance function is part of it. I did not publish this on GF, because at that time I did not know.
